CAN BEE VENOM PROTECT AGAINST COVID-19?
None of these beekeepers developed symptoms associated with COVID-19, and their health was totally normal. After that, we interviewed five apitherapists in Wuhan and followed 121 patients of their apitherapy clinic. These patients had received apitherapy from October 2019 to December 2019, and all the five bee apitherapists have the habit of self-apitherapy for their own health care (apitherapy means making use of bee venom from the honeybee's sting to treat or prevent certain diseases).
Without any protective measures, two of the five apitherapists were exposed to suspected COVID-19 cases and others were exposed to confirmed COVID-19 cases, but none of them were infected eventually. None of the 121 patients were infected by SARS-CoV-2, and three of them had close contact with immediate family members who were confirmed SARS-CoV-2 Infection cases. It might be supposed that beekeepers are less likely to be exposed to SARS-CoV-2 because they live in less densely populated rural areas. But the five apitherapists and their patients are from densely populated areas in Wuhan. These people have one thing in common: they develop a tolerance to bee sting.

Apitherapy Research Kit – Bee Venom Solution Preparation
Bee Venom Solution Kit – For Research and Training in Apitherapy
Discover the potential of bee venom research without the need for live beekeeping. This kit is designed for researchers, educators, and apitherapy practitioners who wish to explore solution preparation and handling techniques in a controlled setting.
Each kit includes:
- High-quality bee venom powder
- Pre-filled sterile saline syringe (for solution preparation)
- Sterile filter and glass vial
- Transfer needle (not intended for injection)
Note: Due to customs regulations, syringes for injection are not included. Recommended needles
Storage (Mixed Solution): 2°–4° C (35–40° F)
Shelf Life (Mixed Solution): up to 30 days
Bee venom has been studied in scientific literature for its possible roles in inflammation, immune response, and pain signaling. This kit allows users to prepare solutions for demonstration, training, and laboratory evaluation in apitherapy. For further background, please see our Research section.
Important Disclaimer:
This kit is intended strictly for educational and research use. It is not a medicinal product and must not be used for medical or clinical purposes. The product has not been evaluated or approved by the FDA, EMA, or other health authorities. Always check and follow local regulations before use.
BEE VENOM AS antiviral agent
Among the ones that can be found, evidence for effectiveness is stated against for example, Influenza A, Vesicular Stomatitis Virus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Herpes Simplex, as Enterovirus-71 and Coxsackie. In a study, a melittin protected mice survived a deadly dose of influenza A, (H1N1 virus). With that said, bee venom looks like an interesting candidate for antiviral treatment against Covid19. Below the conclusion for the study we have looked at in this article.

Explanation:
BV = Bee Venom MLT = Melittin. The main component of bee venom Enveloped viruses = Extra layer to protect the virus from the immune system Non-enveloped viruses = Viruses without that can be more resistant In vitro = In a test tube, culture dish, or elsewhere outside a living organism In vivo = in a living organism |

THE CORONA VIRUS
|
The disease caused by the Coronavirus is now officially named Covid-19.
It started to spread most likely in Wuhan, China, with the first confirmed case on December 31, 2019. Many thousands of humans have already died from this virus that has mortality-rate much higher than seasonal influenza. Age is a risk factor, but also obesity, smoking, and diabetes. Less developed countries and countries where only the privileged get treatment will have a higher amount of fatalities per capita. Compared to the SARS virus that emerged in 2002-2003 in Guangdong, China, that killed ~800 and infected more than 8000 people, this new coronavirus is much more contagious. It seems like Covid19 has a lower fatality rate compared to SARS, but its greater spread will result in a much greater number of casualties. At the moment there is not an official known cure for this virus. Several researchers are working on both a treatment and a vaccine. By looking at the well documented SARS virus that is also from the Corona family, the researchers have saved much time in their research. But before using a vaccine on humans several studies and tests must be performed. On the other end, when it comes to a cure for the disease, a few tests on patients have been performed with HIV-, flue- and ebola-medicines, as well as cocktails of two first ones. The results might lead to new insight and help in the development of medicine. The coronavirus has a circular casing with protrusions all around which gives you a crown-like (corona means 'crown' in Latin) appearance in the electronics microscope. That's from where it got it's name Corona. |
